Myopia Management FAQs

What is myopia management?

Myopia management uses certain treatments and technologies to slow or even halt your child's myopia progression. Our myopia control program in Inner West Side is unique as we have the latest technology and experience to ensure your child's vision remains stable and healthy for years to come.

Is myopia management necessary?

Myopia is more than just poor vision. Childhood myopia raises the risk of developing sight-threatening eye diseases later in life, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. Speak to your eye doctor about the best ways to minimize your child’s risk.

At what age does myopia (nearsightedness) usually start?

Myopia can begin as early as 6 and will usually progress until roughly age 20. The longer it progresses, and the higher the prescription, the greater your child’s risk of sight-threatening eye conditions later in life.

When should my child start myopia management?

For optimal results, myopia management should be started as soon as possible. That said, myopia control can help children and teens of all ages.

I always request Lynette help. She's extremely helpful with finding the right pair of glasses and ta... king the time to make small adjustments to make glasses fit just right. Always a good experience with Dr Zuercher. She takes the time to make sure I understand everything that's going on and is always okay with questions.

Palys Eye is a great choice. Dr Zuercher is excellent, providing top notch eye care that is highly s... pecialized, professional and in line with the newest tech. She offered me contact lense options that I haven’t been offered before due to my specific prescription and astigmatism and is working with me to get the fit and brand just right. I am a professional who uses computers daily with multiple screens at various distances in different settings doing support and thus my vision quality at every distance is high priority. Excellent!

This location is nearby my home. Which is very convenient. Dr. Ward is very friendly and professiona... l. The staff is also friendly and professional. I didn't have to wait too long to see Dr. Ward. They called me to the back promptly. It took about an hour or so to get my eye exam done. And that's only because I had to wait for my eyes to dilate. There was no high pressure sales tactics to sell me glasses or contacts. Though the sales associate was nice enough to show me what my insurance would cover and what I would have to pay out of pocket for. But once I told them I'm not interested, they were okay with that. Overall, I highly recommend this place.
